Do you always fall into the pit of fast fashion and are looking to avoid it this summer? I get it, fast fashion is all around us even when we don’t realise it. companies like Shein, Bershka, H and M and even Zara use fast fashion to make lots of money off people like you and me for a little price. Personally I am sick of having to throw away clothes because they are considered “unfashionable” “out” or even “tacky” a week after I buying them which is why we need to follow these rules to stay away from fast fashion this summer.

Often I find buying trendy items of clothes can become very expensive very quickly and end up becoming a waste of money. Companies that I buy from all the time like Zara and Urban outfitters always find a way to make cute clothes for cheap and then sell them for extortionate prices leaving the customer penniless. one solution of this is leaning away from these shops and turn to something tat is more authentic like a small boutique that sell high quality items that will stay stocked on their shelves for much longer than a few weeks. Of coarse this is not a suitable option for everyone as boutiques can also be very expensive, so turn to charity shops/thrift stores instead. These shops always have countless options that change all the time as so many people are donating. As someone who volunteers at one I can assure you that every week I am sorting through tons of cute pieces which I could see myself wearing.

Another frustrating point about fast fashion, is that I always end up throwing away items that was considered trendy and cute because the trends has moved on and I felt insecure about peoples opinions. (NEVER care about other peoples opinions) Despite myself thinking the trendy clothes were cute, others disagreed which lead to wastage. Throwing away clothes can also be from when you realise that “trendy” piece you brought wasn’t as cute as you remembered it being (iykwim.) One way I like to avoid this is by doing research about timeless pieces which I have another post about. By finding outfits that are commonly worn by multiple generations of people like boot cut jeans, found in the 1970s,1990s,and the 2000s or floral dresses found as early as the 1940s you can gather inspiration that will allow you to look for items that will stay in your wardrobes for years to come. other resources like magazines also help me find inspiration for outfits that are a bit more expressive and don’t expire so quickly.

To conclude, fast fashion is an industry that will at one point or another will catch you out like it has me soooooo many times but hopefully by following these simple rules you wont fall into the trends. Thanks for reading! :))))
